No one was hurt last night when a Salisbury man who police say was driving under the influence of alcohol crashed his pickup truck into a utility pole as his two children rode in the back of the truck.
Cesar Alberto Sanchez, of 115 Ashley Dr., hit the pole on Long Street near Bringle Ferry Road just after 7 p.m.
According to arrest records, investigators found Sanchez to have a blood alcohol level of 0.15; a person is considered legally drunk at 0.08 or above.
Sanchez was charged with driving while impaired and two counts of misdemeanor child abuse. He was released on $1,000 cash bond.
Long Street was closed for some time afterward as emergency officials and Duke Energy workers assessed the situation.
This is the second wreck to occur on this stretch of Long Street in less than three weeks.
On Jan. 26, Jeremy Bruce Eagle, 19, was seriously injured when his motor scooter was hit by a driver at the intersection of Long Street and Bringle Ferry Road.
At last report, Eagle remained at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, where he was transported after the crash.
