Rowan Regional Medical Center has been named a 2009 grant recipient by the Charlotte Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
The hospital was granted $21,000 to provide low-income women who are either uninsured or under-insured with state-of-the-art digital mammograms for screening purposes.
Rowan Regional offers digital mammography for diagnostic and screening services. With digital mammography, the radiologist can adjust the brightness, contrast and magnification of images, reducing the need for film retakes.
Digital mammography may be more accurate in screening women:
– Under age 50;
– Of any age with very dense or extremely dense breast tissue;
– Pre- or peri-menopausal women of any age.
Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s mission is to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find a cure.
