Rowan Helping Ministries held its third annual Pass the Plate auction Saturday. The event was designed to help raise funds to feed the hungry of Rowan County.
This year’s auction saw 16 donated events, ranging from a teen party to a dinner cruise on Lake Norman.
“We want all the events to do with food, because we feed the hungry,” said Rowan Helping Ministries board director Judy Banish. “People are generous to give their time and talent to put these things together.”
In 2007, Pass the Plate brought in $57,000, and $110,000 was donated in 2008’s auction. The goal for this year was $125,000. Rowan Helping Ministries serves three meals a day, 365 days a year.
