Rowan County Democrats will honor the late Jamima DeMarcus during the county convention Saturday.
DeMarcus, the first woman elected to the Rowan County Board of Commissioners and a leader in state Democratic activities, died in February.
Genoal Russell, party chairman, said several party members will also be honored for their work and contributions.
Local Democrats will also elect new officers. A slate of officers will be recommended and nominations will also be accepted from the floor.
Russell said all Democrats are welcome and lunch will be provided. The convention will be at 10 a.m. in the Cohen Administrative Office Building, 130 W. Innes St.
