The owners of a Salisbury restaurant were robbed at gunpoint while having a late dinner.
Gianni and Mona Moscardini and their son, Edward, were having dinner at La Cava Restaurant on South Church Street just before 9 p.m. Monday when two men with guns came into the restaurant, a police report said.
The family was eating in the rear of the building. The two men came in through an open door.
The men wore jackets with hoods that covered most of their faces. The couple gave them the money they had on them. Their son gave them his wallet and cell phone, the report said.
The family heard a gunshot a few seconds after the men left. There were others in the front of the building including the bartender, who pulled the silent alarm.
No one else robbed, the report said.
It’s not the first time the family has fallen victim to crime at the restaurant. In 2006, Mona Moscardini was robbed, beaten and stabbed by two men as she was leaving the restaurant. he needed eight stitches and also suffered several bruises in that incident.
The family was not hurt during the robbery Monday. Phone calls to the family were not returned.
