KANNAPOLIS ó Live music, dancing, food, games for the kids and free admission ó it’s all part of a Block Party hosted Friday by Rowan-Cabarrus Community College for the residents of both counties.
The fun begins at 6 p.m. on the N.C. Research Campus in Kannapolis. The event is part of the RCCC Day of Celebration, which begins at 2 p.m. with the inauguration of Dr. Carol S. Spalding as the third president of the college.
At the block party, The Entertainers will play a variety of tunes, including lots of numbers for shagging and other types of dancing ó dance floor provided.
Kids can jump around in giant inflatables, while everyone can eat barbecue, hamburgers, funnel cakes and snow cones.
Drawings will be held for a free laptop computer and free movie tickets, while RCCC will have booths to provide information about its programs and services. Admission is free.
The inauguration ceremony will be held on the steps of the David H. Murdock Core Laboratory Building at the Research Campus. The theme for the day’s events is “Passport to the Future.”
