The Rowan-Cabarrus Community College cosmetology program and the J.C. Penney Salon of Concord are hosting a student and alumni hair show from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the college’s Cloverleaf Cosmetology Center in Kannapolis.
Stylists from the J.C. Penney Salon at Carolina Mall will demonstrate new techniques in hair cutting, coloring, quick-weave styling and salon management for RCCC cosmetology students and alumni and media representatives.
Current RCCC students will participate in a cut and color competition, vying for prizes, including a free session with J.C. Penny Salon trainers. Approximately 75 students have entered the competition.
The event will give RCCC cosmetology students and alumni a fun opportunity to learn about advanced techniques and products.
RCCC’s cosmetology instructors and staff will work with lighting, decorations and music to make the event comparable to professional hair shows held within the beauty industry.
With approximately 240 full- and part-time students in cosmetology, esthetics and manicuring, RCCC has one of the largest cosmetology programs in North Carolina. Students who complete the program qualify to take the N.C. State Board of Cosmetic Arts Examination and gain employment in salons, spas and related businesses.
