Public hearing on city's nuisance code Tuesday

The Salisbury City Council will hold a public hearing on the city’s code on nuisances at its Tuesday meeting.
The City Council will also vote on awarding a contract for $2,009,705 to Zhone for the purchase of GPON equipment and services for the city’s fiber-optic network program.
An additional $278,680 contract for ETI Software Solutions will also be voted on, which will provide software and equipment for the fiber-optic program.
Other items addressed during the meeting will include:
– A resolution request to close the Horah Street at-grade railroad crossing.
– Recognition of Colonel Paul Barbee and the Air Army National Guard Unit 449 for returning from Iraq, where they participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom and the Global War on Terrorism.
– Adoption of a master plan for the new city park located at 223 N. McCoy Road.
– Recognition of Salisbury High School’s Girls Tennis Team, N.C. 2A State Champions, and Hannah Lebowitz, N.C. 2A Singles Champion.
