Parade, other events planned for Veterans Day

The Rowan County Veterans Day Parade will step off at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in downtown Salisbury.
The parade caps a day that begins with a memorial wreath-laying ceremony at 9 a.m. at the Old National Cemetery, 202 Government Road.
The Hefner V.A. Medical Center, 1601 Brenner Ave., will host a program at 10 a.m. in Building No. 6 with Maj. Queen Williams, U.S. Air Force and JROTC instructor at Salisbury High School, as the guest speaker.
VFW Post 3006, 1200 Brenner Ave., will host a barbecue lunch and commemorative military display at 11 a.m.
And the VA Medical Center will host a parade at 1 p.m.
The Rowan County Veterans Council sponsors Veterans Day events.
In case of inclement weather, the parades will be canceled, but other events will take place as scheduled.
