CHINA GROVE ó Northend Plaza is quickly taking shape on U.S. 29.
Expected to open by summer, the building complex will house a Pizza Hut and an independent pharmacy.
Kannapolis Construction is building Northend Plaza, which is owned by BES Leasing Inc., of Concord.
“It’s nice to have a building that size,” said Bill Cone, owner of Kannapolis Construction.
He sees the project as a plus for China Grove and his business. “All of this is positive, good news.”
Terry Engstrom, a partner in BES Leasing, is the owner of the Pizza Hut franchise for China Grove. He also owns Pizza Hut franchises in Kannapolis, Concord and Albemarle and Sonic franchises in Salisbury and Landis.
The drug store, Price’s Pharmacy, will be locally owned and operated. Cone said it will be similar to Cannon Pharmacy in Kannapolis.
Cone said the pharmacy may open first because its interior will be easier to complete.
Both the pharmacy and Pizza Hut will have drive-through pick-up windows.
Two more spaces in the building are available for lease.
