Man who fell from bridge in fair condition
A Salisbury man who was found on the railroad tracks Wednesday morning remains hospitalized in fair condition at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Ronald Ray Foust, 21, was seriously injured when he apparently fell from the Shober Bridge, the arched bridge on North Ellis Street.
A man surveying the bridge saw him lying face down on the railroad tracks shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday.
Foust was able to tell medical personnel his name. He sustained broken bones and bruises to his back.
Police don’t suspect foul play at this point.
A section of wood from the bridge was missing and a piece of wood that may have come from the bridge was found on the track not far from Foust.
Police aren’t sure when the incident occurred and how far Foust fell.
Deputy Chief Steve Whitley of the Salisbury Police said Monday that officers haven’t been able to talk with Foust.
