Man charged with stealing from employer, selling items at pawn shops

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office charged a West Ridge Road man with breaking into a home on St. John’s Drive, stealing from his employer and obtaining cash for the stolen items later at pawn shops.
Charged is Christopher Lee Overman, 50, of 1223 W. Ridge Road, Salisbury.
He is accused of breaking into a house at 216 St. John’s Drive on two occasions and stealing some $6,000 worth of men’s and women’s jewelry.
Overman pawned a diamond cocktail ring from one of the break-ins at Security Pawn for $75, reports said.
He also is accused of stealing a nail gun, two chain saws and a router from Restoration Plus, his employer, and pawning the stolen items for $175 at Frank’s Pawn Shop.
Overman was placed under $100,000 bond. His first appearance in District Court was scheduled for this morning.
