Man charged in China Grove shooting

CHINA GROVE ó Police have arrested a man wanted in a Sunday night shooting.
Officer R. M. Helms spotted 19-year-old Dustin Reid Hinson walking along Shue Road earlier today.
Helms took Hinson into custody without incident.
Initially, police said they planned to charge Hinson with attempted murder in the shooting of Garrett Lane Wilhelm at an apartment complex at 214 Old Rockwell Road, off North Main Street.
On Tuesday, police charged Hinson with assault with deadly weapon with intent to kill.
He was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center with bond set at $10,000.
Chief Eddie Kluttz said the investigation is ongoing and that an additional arrest is expected.
Responding to a 911 call around 9 p.m. Sunday, police found Wilhelm lying in the parking lot, bleeding severely from a gunshot wound in his leg.
He underwent emergency surgery at Carolinas Medical CenterńNorthEast in Concord to repair a femoral artery.
He remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Police said the shooting was related to a domestic incident. Wilhelm was visiting someone who lives at the apartment complex.
