The LandTrust for Central North Carolina is hosting a nature walk at Eagle Point Park and Preserve in Rowan County on Sunday, Oct. 18th, at 2 p.m. The walk will feature interactive hands-on animal and plant exhibits targeted toward children and their parents. Staff from Dan Nicholas Park will be assisting with this unique event. Exhibits will be set up along the trail at stations where children can learn more about the natural world.
There is no admission for this event. Meet at the Eagle Point parking lot at 2 p.m. The park is located at 665 Black Road in eastern Rowan County. The event will end at approximately 4 p.m.
“We hope this event will be an opportunity to introduce Eagle Point Park and Preserve to the region’s children and their parents,” notes Jason Walser, executive director of the LandTrust for Central North Carolina. “We are honored to have naturalist and wildlife expert Bob Pendergrass from the Rowan County Parks & Recreation Department assisting with this event. I know our friends and supporters will enjoy the exhibits hosted by Bob and his staff from the Dan Nicholas Park Nature Center.”
Eagle Point Park and Preserve is a part of the Rowan County Parks & Recreation park system. This 100-acre tract off Black Road and Bringle Ferry Road runs adjacent to High Rock Lake for over one mile. The LandTrust was instrumental in creating this park, purchasing it from a private landowner with privately raised funds then donating the land to Rowan County in 2000 for permanent use as a passive recreational park. The tract is 100 percent forested, has informational signs, over five miles of marked trails, and a canoe put-in point.

To reach the park from Salisbury, travel east on Bringle Ferry Road approximately 12 miles from the intersection with Long Street to a sharp left onto Black Road. Continue on Black Road to the entrance to the park on the right. Look for the LandTrust directional sign on Black Road.
