KANNAPOLIS ó Police say two men who robbed an auto parts business here Sunday evening may have pulled off more robberies in Charlotte and the surrounding area.
Lt. Ken Jackson said Kannapolis Police believe the robbery is related to several others that have occurred over the past weeks in surrounding jurisdictions.
According to police reports, two men wearing white towels covering their faces and brandishing handguns entered O’Reilly Auto Parts at 956 S. Cannon Blvd. around 5 p.m. Sunday.
The robbers, who entered through a back door, made those in the business lie on the floor. They demanded employees give them money from the registers and safe.
Prior to leaving the business, they took cell phones from the customers and employees. They also closed the employees inside a bathroom in the back of the business before leaving through the back door.
According to witnesses, the men ran to a nearby waiting vehicle described as a black Saturn Vue.
Police declined to say how much money was taken.
Witnesses described the first robber as 6 feet, 2 inches tall, weighing 250 pounds. He wore a white sleeveless shirt, blue jeans and some sort of white material covering his face.
The second man is described as 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighing 160 pounds wearing the same type of clothing.
The only description available of the driver was a black man with short hair.
Anyone with any information about the robbery is asked to contact the Kannapolis Police at 704-920-4000 or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 704-93-CRIME.
