KANNAPOLIS ó First Presbyterian Church of Kannapolis is hosting a free “Lunch and Learn” entitled: “From Stress to Success: Surviving The Emotional Roller Coaster of Unemployment.”
The event takes place Wednesday, Aug. 12, in First Presbyterian’s fellowship hall. Registration starts at 10:15 a.m. and the program is 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. It is open to anyone who is unemployed.
Speakers will share practical tips for dealing with the emotions that come with losing a job. Once one gets a handle on these nagging emotions, it is easier to focus on the job search and cope with practical day to day concerns. The unresolved anger and disappointment of job loss often show up in new job interviews.
This workshop is offered by the Presbytery of Charlotte’s Community Disaster Response Team.
Presenters will be Dr. Jeannie Fennel, life/job coach of Lifeworks; the Rev. Brant Piper, counselor from Presbyterian Samaritan Counseling; the Rev. Elizabeth Hyland, chaplain and unemployment survivor.
The church is located at 201 Vance St.
