Even if Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele makes nice with Rush Limbaugh, he’s a long way from winning over Dr. Ada Fisher.
Fisher, a Salisbury physician and member of the RNC, is calling for Steele to step down in an e-mail to fellow committee members, according to The Hill, a publication covering Congress.
In the e-mail, quoted in a Hill article published Thursday, Fisher says Steele is “eroding confidence” in the GOP and members of his transition team should encourage him to resign.
“I don’t want to hear any more language trying to be cool about the bling in the stimulus package or appealing to D.L. Hughley and blacks in a way that isn’t going to win us any votes and makes us frankly appear to many blacks as quite foolish,” Fisher’s e-mail said.
Fisher discussed the issue on MSNBC Thursday night. Last weekend, Steele appeared on Hughley’s CNN show as he attempted to counter the Democratic assertion that Limbaugh is the “de facto leader” of the Republican Party. After Limbaugh took issue with Steele’s remarks, Steele apologized.
Fisher supported Steele’s rival Katon Dawson as chairman and she’s been critical of Steele before.
