Historic Salisbury Foundation will hold its 37th annual meeting at 7 p.m. April 16 at the Salisbury Railroad Station, 215 Depot St.
All members are being encouraged to attend.
Benjamin Bridges, executive director of Preservation Greensboro Inc., will be the guest speaker.
Briggs will discuss the future of preservation, including the “greening” movement, identifying historic resources from the recent past and the role of comprehensive civic planning in supporting the goals of historic preservation.
Briggs is a native of High Point and has a bachelor’s degree in architecture and sociology from N.C. State University and a master’s degree in historic preservation from Boston University.
He has restored several historic properties, including the Ferdinand Ecker House and the Elihu Mendenhall House, both of High Point.
In 1993, Briggs received a Carraway Award of Merit from Preservation North Carolina. His book, “The Architecture of High Point,” was published in 2008.
A short business meeting with current board members will follow the program. It will include the election of new trustees.
Historic Salisbury Foundation’s mission is to preserve and enhance the special historic character of Salisbury and Rowan County through education, neighborhood revitalization and the preservation of historic landmarks.
