The community is invited to join employees of the Hefner VA Medical Center in their fourth annual food drive in celebration of National Nutrition Month.
Started by the Hefner VA’s Nutrition and Food Services, the drive collects canned food and non-perishable goods for homeless veterans and others in the community in need.
Suzanne C. Lusher Yost, acute care clinical dietician for Nutrition and Food Services, said last year’s drive brought in 862 pounds of food.
“The Marine Corps League started helping us last year and is continuing to help us this year,” she said.
Yost said canned food and non-perishable goods can be dropped off through Friday in the lobbies of all the major buildings at the Hefner VA at 1601 Brenner Ave.
The Charlotte, Hickory and Winston-Salem VA clinics are also participating in the food drive.
