Frozen in time

If you’re hardy enough to venture outside when it’s very cold, you might be rewarded with some beautiful sights, as photographer Wayne Hinshaw reveals in these photographs taken during the area’s recent frigid weather.
The photo above shows patterns in the ice on the Yadkin River at the York Hill wildlife access area.
In the photo at right, the maple tree leaf had settled in a puddle that froze, with air bubbles visible in the ice.
And below, trees cast long winter shadows as they reach to escape the icy waters of the Yadkin at the Tuckertown Dam wildlife access area.
These scenes are all part of nature’s art.
