Fowler files for seat in Spencer

SPENCER ó Delaine Fowler, a political newcomer, is seeking a seat on the Spencer Board of Aldermen.
Fowler, 29, is a business owner and physical therapist. She is the owner of Fowler Physical Therapy in Salisbury.
Fowler said she’s running “to ensure Spencer maintains its hometown feel while moving our town economically forward.
“We are in a time of great change in our nation and community,” Fowler said. “Spencer must have leaders willing to approach this change with vision and decisive action to make sure we preserve the many good qualities of our town while pushing new innovations to build a community that draws needed businesses and responsible citizens to our area.”
Fowler said her priorities include:
– Increasing support of the police and fire departments to reduce crime and improve community safety.
– Institute a “no vacancy campaign” to fill vacant buildings with companies that will draw business to the community.
– Reduce government waste.
– Support local schools with community resources that help develop well-educated and socially responsible young people.
Fowler and her husband, Alan, live at 510 Fifth St.
Fowler has a doctorate and master’s in physical therapy from Elon University and a bachelor’s degree with a major in biology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Salisbury and a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity.
