Fire heavily damages Concord house
CONCORD ó Firefighters battled wind-whipped flames that heavily damaged a home on Ring Avenue and other buildings Wednesday afternoon.
Firefighters responding to a call at 3:55 p.m. at 145 Hemlock St. SW found heavy fire at the rear and a house on fire at 72 Ring Ave., which sustained an estimated $40,550 in damage.
Another vacant house and two utility buildings were also on fire.
A total of six Concord units responded to the incident and got the fire under control by 4:06 p.m.
The Cabarrus County Chapter of the American Red Cross was assisting Wednesday in providing shelter for the occupant of the Ring Avenue home.
