The Last Supper
KANNAPOLIS ó A 45-year tradition enters the spotlight again when the Kannapolis First Presbyterian Church presents “The Last Supper,” a living tableau of the last gathering of Christ with his disciples before his crucifixion.
This free performance (nursery available) will be on Palm Sunday, April 5, in the church sanctuary at 8 p.m.
Captured on stage, daVinci’s famous Last Supper painting springs to life when Jesus says “One of you will betray me…” Sitting or standing motionless at a larger-than-life-sized table, members of The First Presbyterian Church ó the disciples óeach in turn, voice private thoughts generated by the master’s shocking announcement.
Performed every few years since the early ’60s, this will be the 16th performance of The Last Supper by Ernest Emurian. Many of the actors and stage crew are the sons and daughters of original cast members.
The public is invited to attend this free centennial year performance and join with friends and neighbors in what has become a community tradition.
