KANNAPOLIS ó Kelsie Gibson has been chosen as a local Ambassador for the National Society of High School Scholars and was recently invited to attend the annual Scholar’s Day event in Washington, D.C., where students were honored with medallions and personally greeted by Chairman Claes Nobel, senior member of the family which established the Nobel Prizes.
Gibson is a rising junior at A.L. Brown High School and will serve as student body president for the 2009-2010 school year. She is also a member of the school’s Link Crew, Anchor Club, Latin Club, Beta Club, Marching Band and girls’ golf team.
Gibson is a volunteer for the local chapter of Conservative Republican Teenagers and very active in her local church. She also hopes to serve this school year on the N.C. Civic Education Consortium Youth Advisory Committee, a program of the School of Government at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
She is the daughter of Alisa Gibson and granddaughter of Sue Williams, both of Kannapolis.
