The 2009 fall semester will break previous enrollment records at Davidson County Community College, according to the 17 percent increase in enrollment. Classes begin on Monday, Aug. 17.
The fall 2008 enrollment at DCCC was a record-breaker, with 3,500 curriculum students, and fall 2009 will top that figure. An enrollment of approximately 4,000 curriculum or credit students is projected for this fall.
These students will return to Davidson and Davie campuses that are growing to meet demands. In addition they will study at three college satellite centers in Lexington, Thomasville and Advance.
Students will begin three new curriculum programs this fall, and a fourth is scheduled to begin in January. The last day to register for the 2009 fall semester is Monday, Aug. 10. With DCCC anticipating the largest number of students ever enrolled, incoming students should apply as soon as possible due to the increased demand for classes.
Each prospective student must complete an application and return it to the DCCC admissions office. In addition, new students must complete orientation and meet with their academic advisers prior to registering for classes.
Monday, Aug. 10, is the final day for orientation, which will be held in the Reich Auditorium on the Davidson Campus at 6 p.m. and on the Davie Campus at 9 a.m. in Room 110.
The final day to pay tuition for fall classes is Tuesday, Aug. 11.

Students will learn to prepare prescription medications, mix intravenous solutions and other specialized medications, update patient profiles, maintain inventories, package medications and gather data used by pharmacists to monitor drug therapy.
Employment opportunities include retail, hospitals, nursing homes, research laboratories, wholesale drug companies and pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities. Graduates may be eligible to take the National Certification Examination to become a certified pharmacy technician.
The fourth new program, scheduled to begin in January, is heavy equipment and transportation technology, emphasizing diesel mechanics. It will prepare individuals to service, troubleshoot and repair medium and heavy-duty vehicles.
