The Elizabeth Maxwell Steele Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution has named three Good Citizen Award winners.
Haley Ellen Barrier, the daughter of Lisa and Lonnie Barrier, is a senior at East Rowan High School. She has been nominated for the Morehead-Cain Scholarship. She is a National Merit semi-finalist, an AP scholar, co-chief junior marshal, a Civitan scholar and vice president of the Junior Civitan Club.
She is president of Sigma Phi Gamma science honors club, National Honor Society and has been named “most dedicated” by her classmates.
Barrier has played volleyball, basketball and run indoor track. She is a member of the all-county softball team.
She participated in Summer Ventures at East Carolina University. She intends to pursue a career in pediatric medicine.
She is a member of SADD and a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.
Her interests include horticulture and participating in summer softball tournaments.
Seth Alexander Morris is a senior at Salisbury High School. The son of Joe and Pam Morris, he is a Morehead-Cain scholarship nominee, a National Merit scholarship semi-finalist, an AP scholar with distinction, a member of the National Honor Society and an Eagle Scout.
He is president of the Junior Civitan club, a speaker for the N.C. Legislative Assembly, co-captain of the academic competition team, a LandTrust intern and a volunteer for the Rowan County Democratic Party.
Morris attended Governor’s School at Meredith college and Summer Ventures at Western Carolina University.
He plans to double major in history and political science at either UNC or The University of the South.
Alexandra N. Worthy, a senior at North Rowan High School, is the daughter of Delores Bennett-Brown. She is a member of Who’s Who Among American High School Students, the National Honor Roll and received the Principals Achievement Award.
Worthy is a member of the National Honor Society, Shabach, the Spirit of Praise Dance Ministry and is an intern in the Theatre Arts Department at Catawba College.
Last summer, she attended the Broyhill Leadership Conference.
She hopes to attend Temple University in Philadelphia.
