KANNAPOLIS ó Authorities are looking for a man and woman who stole money orders left on the counter at a Kannapolis convenience store.
The two went into the store at 2720 W. C St. around 1 p.m. Monday. The man bought a drink and the woman reached across the counter and snatched the money orders, a Rowan County Sheriff’s Office report said.
According to Sheriff’s Capt. John Sifford, the clerk had just left the money orders on the counter for the beer deliveryman.
A store surveillance video shows the woman grabbing the money orders from the counter near the cash register as the clerk rings up the man’s drink. The man is partially hidden behind a store display on the video.
The man is tall with a slim build and closely cut blond hair. He wore a gray T-shirt and light colored or khaki colored pants.
The woman was wearing a burgundy colored sleeveless shirt and dark pants. Her hair was pulled into a low pony tail.
Authorities are also looking for a man who robbed the same store at gunpoint early that same morning. They are searching for William Mitchell Jones of Kannapolis.
Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to contact the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office at 704-216-8700.
