Children at the Masonic Home for Children in Oxford enjoyed a back-to-school pool party recently sponsored by Spencer Chapter No. 31 Order of the Eastern Star, Spencer Masonic Lodge No. 543 and Pat and Jeff Phillips.
During the party, the organizers delivered more than 2,000 pounds of school supplies they’d collected from lodge members and friends for the children.
Though the day began with downpours, the rain ended and the clouds parted in time for the party, which included music, snacks and door prizes along with splashing in the pool and dancing.
The day ended with a meal of hot dogs, hamburgers, baked beans, chips, cookies, watermelons and cold drinks. During the meal, lodge member Mike Decker, a professional clown, made balloon characters for each child.
