The public is invited to see students, teachers and staff model African clothing for a fashion show at Koontz Elementary.
The school is celebrating Black History Month with its annual fashion show and a discussion of the food and living conditions in countries such as Liberia.
The event is Feb. 27 at 9 a.m. in the school’s multipurpose room, 685 E. Richards Road. The event’s organizer is Koontz teacher Elizabeth Wah, a native of Liberia.

Livingstone College
– A performance of “The Attitudes of Courageous African-Americans” at 7 p.m. tonight in the Tubman Little Theatre.
– A performance of “Show Me and the Attitudes of Courageous African-Americans: at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Tubman Little Theatre
– A performance of “The Attitudes of Courageous African-Americans at 4 p.m. Feb. 22 at First Calvary Baptist Church, Salisbury.
– A performance of the speeches of Frederick Douglass, Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. DuBois at 4 p.m. Feb. 22 at Gethsemane Baptist Church, Salisbury.
– A performance of “Seven Greats in Black History” at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Feb. 27, at Newton Conover School District (high school and middle school) in Hickory.
Knox Middle School
– Blacks in Classic Film, 6 p.m. Feb. 25 showing of “Uptown Saturday Night” featuring Bill Cosby and Sidney Poitier.
The cost is $2. Students with a progress report of all satisfactory and no grade below a C will be admitted for $1.
The event is free to students with progress reports with only As, Bs or AB.
Concessions will be open.
– School staff will do a “soul food potluck lunch” on Feb. 27.
