Three vacation opportunities and a party for 40 are among the items donated so far for Faithful Friends’ silent auction fundraiser on Saturday.
More than 200 items have been donated, and more are coming in, to help raise money for the animal sanctuary planned for a 10 acre site on Grace Church Road. The fundraiser will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at the F&M Trolley Barn in Salisbury.
Tickets are $20 minimum donation, and complimentary hamburgers, hot dogs, soft drinks, beer and wine will be served. Entertainment will be provided by DJ Big Bad Ben.
Those who attend are asked to bring a can or bag of pet food for the Faithful Friends pet food drive for the Rowan County Humane Society and Rowan Helping Ministries to distribute to struggling pet owners.
Among the new offerings for the silent auction:
– A vacation at the Stanback House on Figure Eight Island will start at a minimum bid of $2,000 for one week and $1,000 for three nights and four days. The house is available most of May and for two weeks in September. Weekly rentals begin on Mondays.
Located in a gated community north of Wilmington, the five-bedroom house overlooks the salt marsh and offers access to kayaking, crabbing and clamming. With a vacant lot across the street, the house offers a view of the ocean and access to the beach.
The luxury home features five decks, a patio, swimming pool with waterfall and a playroom with pool table and wet bar.
– A long weekend (three nights, four days) at a three-bedroom, three-bath condo in Garden City, S.C. during the offseason will start with a minimum bid of $300. The condo rents during the summer for more than $2,000 a week.
– A week’s stay at a two-bedroom, two-bath, oceanfront Lands End condo in North Myrtle Beach, S.C. from May until September (only the week of July 4th is excluded) for a minimum bid of $700. Located next to a protected sanctuary, the beach extends for a mile or so with no hotels or condos.
Pools are located on the property, and a covered porch with comfortable furniture overlooks the sanctuary and ocean. The condo normally rents for $1,200 to $1,500 a week.
– A party for 40 by The Shaggin’ Wagon, known for putting on the best party around, will start at a minimum bid of $800 and/or a party for 20 people at a minimum bid of $400. This group of men arrive in their bread truck delivering good food paired with beer and wine and ready to party.
Tickets to the silent auction are available at Antiquarius, A Step in Time, Farmhouse Restaurant, Pleasant Papers and the Stitchin’ Post.
