The Rowan County Animal Shelter has several animals waiting to be adopted.
Dog: This beautiful blue merle puppy is an assortment of colors. He is an Australian shepherd mix, about 9 weeks old, and was surrendered to the shelter when his owners lost their home and could no longer provide for him.
Cat: One look into Gracie’s golden eyes and you won’t be able to turn away. Gracie is an 8-year-old female that has been declawed. She has not been spayed. Her owners had to surrender her when they could no longer care for her.
Fees are $70, a downpayment for spay/neuter costs.
Before adopting an animal, a person must agree to take the pet to a veterinarian for an exam and spaying/neutering. If the animal isn’t vaccinated for rabies, the person must agree to begin shots within three business days.
The animal shelter isn’t equipped with a medical facility and cannot administer any procedures or treatment.
A worker at the shelter will go over information and answer questions from those adopting pets.
