Piano students of Tina Brown of Rockwell presented a Halloween recital on Oct. 30 in the fellowship hall of Organ Lutheran Church.
Many students dressed in their Halloween costumes. The recital featured pieces based on a Halloween theme such as: black cats, super speed broom, monster march, goblins, pumpkins, ghosts, witches, funeral march, and a piano arrangement of J.S. Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor.
Performers were: Marian Hough, Daniel Pell, Schrade Daniel, Camry Wingler, Gabi Jolly, Lydia Hartung, Chelsea Green, Kevin Agner, Ilya Wang, Laura Agner, Rebecca Agner and Carol Brown.Red Hats
On Sept. 29, the Silver Queen Strollers of Miller Center Red Hat Society had lunch at Luckey’s Restaurant at the Salisbury Mall.
On Oct. 10 they were in the Livingstone homecoming parade.
Sunday, Oct. 18, members of the society attended a worship service at Jerusalem Baptist Church. While in attendance, one of the members, Betty Hutchins, was honored for her long service as president of the missionary.
On Oct. 27, the group went on a train ride to Greensboro. Upon arrival, the Miller Center van driver, Lakari Brie and former organizer of the Red Hat Society, April Hawkins, welcomed the group. They were able to tour Greensboro and go shopping, and ate lunch at the K&W Restaurant.
The trip was planned by Fannie Butler and Annie Rivers.
Red Hat Society members who attended these events were Florence Perry, Lola Evans, Elnora Woods, Carrie Boler, Kathrine Smith,Betty Hutchins, Jessie Childers, Magdeline Troy, Marion Logan, Gloria Ballard, Idella Watkin, Addie Hargraves, Fannie Butler, Annie Rivers and guests Earl Smith and van driver Lakari Brie.
Granite Quarry HS
The Granite Quarry High School class of 1958 had its 51st reunion at Shiloh United Methodist Church Fellowship Building in Granite Quarry on Saturday, Nov. 7.
Gwynn Harrison was the master of ceremonies for the event and those attending were Ronald McCulloh and Mary Jane from Lawrenceburg, Ky.; Harold Sides and Virginia from Stockbridge, Ga; Jerry Bogle and Kay from Millersville, Mich.; Stephen Kesler and Karen from Monroe; Curtis Ribelin and Mary Jane from Cleveland; Frank Earnhardt and Sue from Cooleemee; Melba Basinger Pickler from Rockwell; Patsy Webster Finnerman and Jack from Statesville; Jerry Eller and Priscilla from Yadkinville; Vickie Lou Leigh Long from Winston-Salem and James Peeler and Carolyn from Thomasville.
Attending from Faith were John Peeler and Gayle, Rodney Fulk and Brendaand Nicholas Shive.

A memorial was held by Rodney Fulk and James Peeler for classmates who have passed away since the last reunion in 2008. They are Betty Lou Earnhardt Stoner, Richard Hodgeson and Vernon Eugene Sherrill.
Lunch was catered by Debbie Suggs.The next reunion will be November 2010.
