On the Town – Over the rainbow at the Harvest Moon Ball

Friday morning the halls of the Lutheran home were abuzz with activity: comb-outs, makeup, manicures, dresses being delivered to resident rooms, last-minute alterations on a tux!
It was all in preparation for the fourth annual Harvest Moon Ball Oct. 23 at the Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks. A carefully coordinated effort between the home and Volunteer Catawba, the event packed the house.
Starting the music off was the band The Polka Dots, followed by the Salisbury Swing Band. Steve Norman provided photography services for “prom shots,” while Paul Canup documented the party with his video equipment.
In keeping with the theme “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” guests entered the room via the yellow brick road and faced a beautiful rainbow of bouncing balloons over nine feet high. Residents and family members appeared in long dresses and tuxedos, often complemented by corsages and boutonničres. Catawba students provided programs for the evening and assisted everyone with seating.
Staff, volunteers, family members and students contributed many hours to assure the event’s success.
