The Mountain, South Carolina, Savannah River and Volunteer Divisions of the $8 million Walmart Bass Fishing League will visit Lake Norman from Thursday-Saturday for the 2009 Regional Championship.
The Regional Championship includes a top award of a Ranger 198VX boat with a choice of a 200 horsepower Evinrude or Yamaha motor and a Chevrolet 1500 Silverado in the Boater Division.
The top six boaters and co-anglers will advance to the 2010 BFL All-American presented by Chevy.
The winning co-angler will earn a Ranger 198VX boat with a choice of a 200 horsepower Evinrude or Yamaha motor.
Anglers can register for the tournament online at FLWOutdoors.com or by calling 270-252-1000. Onsite registration will be held Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Central Piedmont Community College – North Campus at 11930 Verhoeff Drive in Huntersville.
Blythe Landing at the Mecklenburg County Park, 15901 N.C. 73 in Huntersville, will host the takeoff at 7:30 a.m. daily and weigh-in at 3:30 p.m. on Days 1 and 2. Weigh-in will be held at Walmart at 4 p.m. on Day 3.
The winning boater and winning co-angler at the All-American will advance to the no-entry-fee Forrest Wood Cup in Atlanta in 2010. This event is the most lucrative tournament in all of competitive bass fishing. In all, the BFL offers weekend anglers the opportunity to qualify for three no-entry-fee championships. Plus, the top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers from each BFL division may move up to the Stren Series for 2010 while All-American champions have the option to advance directly to the FLW Tour.
In BFL competition, boaters supply the boat and compete from the front deck against other boaters. Co-anglers compete from the back deck against other co-anglers.
The BFL is widely credited with opening competitive bass fishing to the masses. It also serves as a steppingstone for anglers who wish to advance to the Stren Series and ultimately the FLW Tour ń bass fishing’s most lucrative circuit.
