Great-grandparents are Tommy and Bessie Johnson of Spencer and Carolyn Grooms of Salisbury.

A daughter, Kooper Brooklyn, was born to Michael and Kelly Shenk Beers of Mountain View, Calif. on Sept. 16, 2009, at Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford. She weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces. Grandparents are Dale and Barbara Schenk of Salisbury, George Wesley Beers of Suffern, N.Y. and Sarah Jane Rigano of Statesville. Great-grandparents are Bernard Sloop and Cecil Shenk, also of Salisbury.

A daughter, Starrla Michele, was born to Jamie Franks and Chris Webb of Faith on Sept. 25, 2009, at Forsyth Medical Center. She weighed 3 pounds, 2 ounces. She has a brother, Christian Webb, 3, and a sister, Alexis Lawing, 11. Grandparents are Mike and Angie Webb of China Grove. Great-grandparent is Barbara Webb of China Grove.
