nGame notes: Parental digression is advised. This likely will not be one for children under 12 to view. The Wonders may score every two or three plays ó and that’s when they’re on defense.
The Wonders likely would have a better chance against Duke than Cox Mill has against the Wonders.
All kidding aside, this a mismatch that won’t do either team a whole lot of good. But they’re in the same league. You play the schedule.
A new school such as Cox Mill has to start somewhere, and the hearts of the young Chargers, who have no seniors, will beat faster when they enter tradition-laden Memorial Stadium for the first time.
Cox Mill’s closest game so far was a 30-6 loss against East Rowan. There’s a good chance the Chargers will have to wait until 2010 ó or 2011 ó for their first victory. Maybe they can beat Central Cabarrus, but the Vikings will be favored.
Desmond Gray, Andrew Leslie, Terrance Johnson and Dana Moss form a formidable foursome of linebackers for A.L. Brown. The shutout last week, the team’s first since a 52-0 wipeout of Porter Ridge in 2008, indicated more progress. Brown got a TD from cornerback Mike Robinson so the defense has scored three straight weeks.Brown’s only loss came when QB Martel Campbell was sidelined. He’s getting more efficient, and backs Travis Riley and Antwoine Jordan have combined for 22 TDs.
