CLEMSON, S.C. ó Redshirt freshman Kyle Parker will be the starting quarterback when Clemson opens the season against Middle Tennessee next month.
Clemson coach Dabo Swinney selected Parker as the starter after Monday morning’s practice. But Swinney says redshirt sophomore Willy Korn will play in every game this year.
Parker and Korn have battled for the starting slot since spring practice.
Swinney says he thinks either quarterback can lead the Tigers to victory. But he says naming Parker as the starter will give the team time to solidify.
Parker has not played in a football game for Clemson, although the outfielder is two-year starter on the baseball team.
Korn has played in eight games and is 34 of 49 passing for 316 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for two touchdowns.
