The NFL notebook …
ASHBURN, Va. ó It seems “a lot of teams” are interested in Michael Vick. The Washington Redskins, apparently, aren’t one of them.
Vick intrigue spiked Tuesday morning when his agent, Joel Segal, made an appearance at a Redskins training camp practice. Segal, however, said he had dropped by to visit his Redskins clients, including Jason Campbell, DeAngelo Hall and LaRon Landry.
“No. No chance,” Segal said when asked about the possibility of Vick signing with Washington.
T.O.
PITTSFORD, N.Y. ó Terrell Owens missed practice Tuesday because of a sprained toe, which the Buffalo Bills receiver had said was sore following the team’s preseason opener on Sunday.
Coach Dick Jauron confirmed the injury but offered no details on how Owens was hurt. Jauron said he would discuss Owens’ status after evening practice.
STALLWORTH
MIAMI ó Suspended Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte’ Stallworth will be allowed to leave home confinement to train with a strength and conditioning coach, a judge ruled Tuesday.
At a morning hearing, Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Dennis Murphy granted a motion to modify the conditions of Stallworth’s house arrest. The 28-year-old Stallworth, who pleaded guilty in June to DUI manslaughter, will now be allowed to train outside of his home with a coach five days a week in South Florida.
BRADY WANTS TO PLAY
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. ó Tom Brady is hoping for a starring role. Bill Belichick might allow a cameo.
The New England quarterback is eager to get back in the game ó any game ó after spending nearly a year recovering from a left knee injury suffered just 7:33 into the 2008 season opener against Kansas City.
That’s a little more than seven minutes of NFL playing time since 2008.
No wonder Brady is excited about the Patriots’ preseason game Thursday at Philadelphia.
“Yeah, I’m ready, I think everybody’s ready,” said Brady, who played himself in an episode of HBO’s “Entourage” that aired this week. “We’ve had a good camp, guys have been working real hard trying to do what coach Belichick’s asked. It will be nice to go out and play the Eagles.”
