Sports briefs: Intimidators win in 10, in first place

The Kannapolis Intimidators won 6-5 in 10 innings at Lake County on Sunday.
Kyle Shelton hit a two-run homer in the top of the 10th and the Intimidators held on in the bottom half. Kannapolis took a 4-2 lead into the last of the ninth but couldn’t hold it.
Southpaw Joe Serafin looked sharp in his debut for the Intimidators, allowing one run and fanning seven in four innings.
The Intimidators lead the second-half SAL race at the halfway point with a 21-14 record.
n Football star has project
Darryl Childers, former South Rowan and Davidson College football standout, is tackling a Healthy Homes project in the Dominican Republic and is asking for assistance from friends and fans in the Rowan community who remember him.
Childers is a volunteer with the Peace Corps Partnership Project.
