China Grove RotaryThe China Grove Rotary Club held their annual installation banquet June 30 at Mimosa Restaurant in China Grove. President Michael Hanzlik installed officers and board members for the 2009-2010 Rotary year.
They are: Michael Hanzlik, president; Larry Brown, vice president; Chris Beaver, secretary and treasurer. Board members are Freda Richards, Jim Morton, Harry Corriher, Ashley Roberts and Gilmer Boggs.Don Berg was a guest guitarist and entertained during the evening.
Hanzlik presented the 2009 Service Above Self Award to Carole Brooke.
The award is given annually to a member of the community who gives unselfishly to others through involvement in church, civic groups and community projects.
Pilot International
Joan Corriher, president of the Pilot Club of China Grove/Landis, attended the Pilot International convention in San Diego, Calif., July 7-11.
More than 900 Pilots attended from all over the world.
Pilot is a community service organization. Members participate in club projects, and locally, two scholarships are given each year to two high school students.
