America needs to change direction
As we celebrate our nation’s independence, let us consider how far we have fallen. We need more statesmen and fewer professional politicians. Our leaders, for the most part, are only interested in getting and keeping their party in power, getting themselves re-elected and living their pockets any way they can.
In business, honesty and fair dealing are scarce. There was a time when a man’s word was his bond. Now in every deal we have to have two sets of lawyers so each party is protected. There is no trust. The naive and unknowing are taken advantage of.
There is little respect for marriage and family. We have substituted and given honor to alternate lifestyles. Abortion is used for birth control. There is no more regard for killing a baby than for crushing a fly. Spouses, children and older parents and grandparents are abused and murdered. Many parents do not take responsibility for their children, to nurture and protect them and see that they grow up to be honest, responsible and industrious people.
In so many churches, only lip service is paid to God. Programs and gimmicks take precedence over worship, devotion and service. Backstabbing, gossip and contention take the place of brotherly love. Members act one way in church and the opposite way out in the world. We give greatly to missions and neglect people in our own congregations and communities. We fail to visit the shut-ins, the sick and the elderly.
We must have a great revival in this country if we are to survive. We must truly worship God, love our neighbors and do to others as we would have them do to us.
I would not choose to live in any other country.
God bless America, and God help America if it doesn’t change.
