Bradley Robbins tossed a no-hitter Friday night as the Rowan County Junior Legion beat Winston-Salem Green 12-0 in five innings to sweep a second-round series.
Robbins struck out seven batters and walked four.
Rowan was led at the plate by Avery Rogers’ three hits and four RBIs. Chandler Jones and Will Sapp had two hits each. Jones added four RBIs.
– Rowan won Thursday’s opener 19-2. Will Johnson fanned seven in three innings. Alex Bost and Curtis Ward finished off the five-inning game.
Jones had four hits for Rowan. Jamey Blalock had three hits, including a grand slam and knocked in six runs. Rogers and Andy Austin had two hits.
Rowan will face the winner of the Mooresville-Mocksville series. Game 1 will be at Newman Park Sunday night.
n American Legion playoffs
High Point won its Northern Division series, sweeping Western Forsyth on Friday night 14-5. High Point, which now meets the South Rowan-Mooresville winner, won three straight games.
– Burlington beat Randolph County 15-5 in eight innings. Randolph still holds a 2-1 series lead going into tonight’s game at Burlington.
n Intimidators
Lakewood posted six early runs against Kannapolis starter J.R. Ballinger and held on for a 7-5 win over the Intimidators on Friday night at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium.
Ballinger, making just his second professional start, gave up six runs, all earned, in four innings of work.
Kannapolis rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth to move within one, but could not find the game-tying run. Luis Sierra singled in the sixth to bring the Intimidators within 6-5.
Four Kannapolis relievers combined to allow one run.
n West boosters
The West Rowan Booster Club will begin selling season passes and reserve seating for the 2009 Falcon football season.
If you had reserved seating last season and want to keep those seats, you need to contact John Lowe at wrhsboosterclub@aol.com before August 1st. After this date seats will be sold on first-come basis.
n South boosters
The South Rowan Booster Club will meet Monday night at 7 p.m. in Room 100.
n Knox football
Knox Middle School will hold football workouts Tuesday, July 14, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The workouts are for for rising seventh and eighth graders

n Minor leagues
Fort Myers reliever Spencer Steedley (East Rowan) pitched two innings, allowed an unearned run and struck out four in a 6-3 win against Sarasota on Friday.
Steedley’s ERA dropped to 0.84.
n David Thomas (Catawba) returned to action for Kane County with a pinch-hit sac fly on Friday in a 5-3 win against Burlington. .
n Bristol’s Daniel Wagner (South Rowan) had his first pro triple in an 8-7 victory against Burlington.
