NL: Hall ends slump with game-deciding hit

MILWAUKEE ó Bill Hall snapped a 1-for-28 slump with a two-out, RBI single in the 10th inning to lift the Milwaukee Brewers to a 1-0 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday.
Cardinals ace Chris Carpenter took a perfect game into the seventh inning, and the Brewers’ Yovani Gallardo carried a no-hitter into the sixth before each allowed just two hits over eight innings.
Carpenter extended his scoreless streak to 23 innings.
Padres 9, D’backs 7, 10 innings
PHOENIX ó Chase Headley hit a two-run homer in the 10th inning as San Diego rallied from a six-run deficit to win its 10th straight game.
Dodgers 16, Rockies 6
DENVER ó The Dodgers used two big innings ó a seven-run fourth and an eight-run seventh ó to rout the Rockies.
James Loney, Russell Martin, Juan Castro and Matt Kemp had three hits each and Juan Pierre had a bases-loaded triple for the Dodgers, who matched their season high with 19 hits.

CINCINNATI ó Jonny Gomes had three RBIs and the Reds made the most of three Houston errors, scoring eight unearned runs.

SAN FRANCISCO ó Last-minute lineup addition Travis Ishikawa had a three-run homer among his career-high four hits, and Jonathan Sanchez won for the first time in a month.
Marlins 5, Phillies 3
PHILADELPHIA ó Wes Helms homered and drove in four runs for the Marlins.
Ryan Howard hit a pair of homers for the NL East-leading Phillies, while Jamie Moyer failed in his fifth try to earn his 250th win.

NEW YORK ó Gary Sheffield hit a disputed, tiebreaking three-run homer in the sixth inning that was upheld by a video review.
