North, Salisbury set for 2A regional

The track teams from Salisbury and North Rowan will compete today in the 2A Midwest Regional at Monroe High School.
In the girls field, North Rowan freshman Teaunna Cuthbertson is seeded first in the 100 hurdles, long jump and triple jump. Her top time of 14.71 seconds in the 100 hurdles is more than two seconds faster than any other participant’s.
North has three top-seeded relay teams, and Cuthbertson is set to run the 4×200 with Tatiana Banks, Akevia Charleston and Yasarian Bush.
Charleston, Bush, Abril Ellis and Corbin Bennett make up the 4×100 team. Charleston, Banks, Shaquille Bagley and Tenesha Dickerson are on the 4×400 team.
Salisbury’s Meloney Ramos, the second-seeded long jumper behind Cuthbertson, is seeded first in the 100 and 200.
Emily Shields (top seed in the 800, second in the 400) and sister Katherine Shields (top seed in the 1600, second in the 3200) are part of a top-seeded 4×800 team with Brooke Johnson and Katelyn Horning. Alisha Bradshaw is seeded first in the discus and second in the shot put, and the Hornets are also strong in the other relays.
Salisbury’s Romar Morris ó officially the top seed in the 100, 200 and 400 as well as a member of the top-seeded 4×100 team ó suffered a leg injury in the CCC meet. A.J. Ford has the rare distinction of being the top seed in the shot put and the second seed behind Morris in the 200. Nick Summers is seeded first in two events (1600, 3200) and second in two more (800, 4×800 relay).
North’s Samuel Starks and Titus King are the top two seeds in the 110 hurdles.
