RCCA announces new season

The Rowan County Concert Association announces its 2009-10 series: “Legends of Musical Moments!”
Performances will be held at Keppel Auditorium on the campus of Catawba College.
The series begins with “The Patsy Cline Show” on Sept. 12 with Jackie Finley and her five-piece band.
Finley has opened for Travis Tritt, Jo Dee Messina and won the IDOL Competition in Las Vegas last October.
On Oct. 18, “Red Hot Jubilee Jam!” will be performed ó a variety show full of music, comedy and fun. The show features brian Gurl, Lenny Ski, Joey Gurl, Terry McKinney and Judy Alexander.
In the new year, country music fans won’t want to miss “Hank Williams and My Honky Tonk Heroes,” performed Jan. 24. Jason Petty brings Hank’s music back to life in this energetic show, and also pays tribute to those who influenced Hank ó and some he influenced as well.
Petty won an Obie award for his performance in the off-Broadway play.
On March 13, the Harry James Orchestra will take the stage.This is a Big Band salute to the music of World War II era. The orchestra is directed b lead trumpet virtuoso Fred Radke, performing such old favorites as “Sleepy Lagoon,” “You Made Me Love You,” “I Had the Craziest Dream,” and “All or Nothing At All.”
RCCA receives support from the North Carolina Arts Council and is a member of the North Carolina Presenters Consortium.
Through a reciprocal agreement with Albemarle, Asheboro, Lincolnton, Mooresville and Statesville, your membership card allows you to attend any of their concerts ó about 24 in all.
Other concerts include The Buckinghams, the Steely Pan Steel band from Appalachian State University, Four Canadian Tenors, a John Denver Tribute.
