Staff report
Salisbury left little doubt who is the class of Rowan County golf by putting all six golfers in the 70s as the Hornets easily won the annual county meet on Wednesday at The Warrior Golf Club.
Salisbury’s final team total of 296 was 53 strokes better than East Rowan and West Rowan. Each team finished at 349.
Alex Nianouris was the match’s medalist with a 71, followed closely by Roy Dixon’s 73. Teammates Troy Beaver and Clark Alcorn each had 76s, while Alex Lee and Randy Almeida finished at 78.
All-county golfer Zach Rosario shot an 85 to help West Rowan tie East. Daniel Plummer and Bryce Corbett each had 88s for the Mustangs but those scores weren’t good enough to make the 10-man all-county team.
Also named all-county were South Rowan’s Seth Walker (84), and Carson’s Keyan Clanton (84) and Tyler Crossen (85).
The efforts of Clanton and Crossen were enough to help the Cougars edge rival South 352-353.
Jesse Pinkston was the medalist for North Rowan, which finished at 377. Pinkston shot a 92.
