Cavs win meet

North Rowan’s girls track team scored 60 points to win Saturday’s Blue Devil Invitational in Mooresville that included top athletes from all classifications.
Teaunna Cuthbertson won the long jump (18 feet), was second in the 100 hurdles (15.14 seconds), placed third in the triple jump (34-11) and ran on a first -place relay team to earn MVP honors.
North’s 4×100 team of Abril Ellis, Akevia Charleston, Corbin Bennett and Yasarian Bush won in 51.74. North’s 4×200 team of Ellis, Bennett, Bush and Cuthbertson won in 1:46.8.
Bush was second in the long jump (16-8) and placed fifth in the 200 (29.36). Dirika Mitchell took third in the shot put (33-5).
West Rowan’s girls placed fifth in the 4×100 with Moriah Leach, Nicole Barber, Kimberly Jenkins and Amber Holloway turning in a 53.62 clocking.
Davie’s Falon Hooper won the shot put (34-41/2) and was second in the discus (110-10). Caitlin Tutterow was sixth in the 800 (2:31.2).
A.L. Brown’s girls tied for seventh place.
Keonna Artis was second in the high jump (5-2). Wonders Adrian Morrison (4-10) and Briana Coleman (4-10) took fifth and sixth, respectively, in the high jump.
Tylivia Blackwelder placed third for the Wonders in both the 100 (12.64) and 200 (26.49). Nia Boyd was fourth in the discus (92-1), while Samara Tisdale was fifth in the shot (30-101/2). The Wonders were third in the 4×200.
n In the boys ranks, Mooresville held off Northwest Cabarrus to win the team title.
South Rowan’s B.J. Grant tied for second in the high jump (6-6).
West Rowan’s Marquise Allison was fourth in the 110 hurdles (16.07), and teammate Trey Cuthbertson was sixth in the 300 hurdles (44.40). Tim Flanagan was fifth in the long jump (20-91/2), while teammate Kershawn Wilder took sixth (20-7) in the event.
A.L. Brown’s Tavis Bailey dominated the discus with a throw of 165-4. Brown’s Larry Scaggs was third in the 3200 (10:08.7).
Mooresville got wins from Tommy Ryan (15.14 in the 110 hurdles) and Josh Cox (9:51.4 in the 3200).
Northwest’s effort was sparked by Trevor Anderson. He won the triple jump (45-8).

Queens beat Catawba 18-10 in men’s lacrosse Saturday night.
Catawba (2-6) was paced by Braden Artem and Mike Dolesh with three goals apiece.
