– Prep golf
Salisbury shot 160 and edged Ledford by one shot to win Wednesday’s CCC golf match in rain and cold.
Roy Dixon’s 38 led the Hornets. Alex Nianouris shot 39, Troy Beaver had a 40, and Clark Alcorn and Randy Almeida shot 43s. Alex Lee shot 46.
Kyle Collins led seventh-place North Rowan (190) with a 46. Jesse Pinkston, Miller Sokolowski and Bill Fordyce shot 47s. Jon Robertson shot 50.Ledford’s Aaron Abts shot 37 and was medalist.n Sacred Heart golf
Sacred Heart shot 180 to defeat South Davie and Ellis at Rolling Hills.

Terris Sifford (West Rowan) had 22 points and 17 rebounds before fouling out of his game in Italy over the weekend.
* Carlos Dixon (South Rowan) scored 16 points for his team in Argentina Friday and has averaged 13.1 points in 38 games.
– Coaching moves
Jared Eure (Davie) was fired as West Forsyth girls basketball coach after two seasons and a 14-34 mark.
* Former Central Davidson head football coach Eugene Everhart has been named athletics director and head football coach at Wheatmore, a new school opening in Randolph County this fall.
– Church softball league
The organizational meeting for the upcoming Rowan County Church Golf League will be held Tuesday, April 7, at 5:30 p.m. at the McCanless clubhouse.
The meeting will serve to discuss changes for the upcoming season and nominate charities the league will benefit.
The league raised $1,542 for the Hospice of Rowan County and Nazareth Children’s Home last year.

– Celebrity softball
Rowan Seniors will take on NFL celebrities as part of the Senior Games. The game is set for Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium at 1:30 p.m. on April 4. Ex-NFL stars will include Tommy Barnhardt, Lance Smith and Ben Coates. The cost is $5 for adults. Children under 12 are admitted free.
– Intimidators not far off
The Kannapolis Intimidators open the South Atlantic League season April 9 against Asheville.
Twenty-three fireworks days are planned at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium for Fridays and Saturday.
Seats can be purchased by calling (704) 932-FANS (3267), online at IntimidatorsBaseball.com or at the FCS ticket office. A special “unveiling” is planned for opening night.
– RAC swimming
Rowan Aquatic Club swimmers Kayla Tennant (9), Michael Mebel (12), Brandon Ralston (12) and Taylor Rodenhuis (12) qualified for the Southern Zone Eastern Section Age Group Championships in Charlotte. There were 860 athletes competing.
Rodenhuis was seventh in the 100 butterfly (1:01.15) and 1650 free (18:24.16). He was ninth in the 400 IM (4:46.76) and 10th in the 100 backstroke (1:03.46).
– 5K race
The 5th Annual Beach Blast 5K will be the Road Runners Club of America North Carolina State Championship 5K Race.
The race, which attracted 226 runners last year, will be held May at 8 a.m. in downtown Albemarle.

N.C. State football coach Tom O’Brien will address Wolfpack Club members in the Charlotte area April 6 รณ one of 23 stops for the Wolfpack Caravan. Cost is $20.
The affair will be held at Firethorne Country Club at 6:30 p.m.
– 7th-grade hoops
Helping Knox’s girls beat Erwin 42-40 in the tournament championship game Tuesday was NyAsia Harris. She blocked four shots and grabbed 15 rebounds.
