Sadie Brown 100th Birthday

Sarah ěSadieî Catherine Brown, affectionately called ěBrownieî by her family, is celebrating her 100th birthday today, Sunday, March 1, 2009, with family and friends at First Baptist Church in Spencer.
Sadie was born March 3, 1909, in Johnston County to the late William Sasser and Eliza Rowe Sasser. She had two sons, Walt (now deceased) who was basketball coach, athletic director and principal at North Rowan High School, and Bill who once was a barber and retired from Fiber Industries.
Her grandchildren are Jim Baker, Chip Baker, Jay Baker, Stacy Baker and Sarah Baker Thompson and great-grandchildren are Jamie, Madison, Hannah, Jake, Katie, Thomas, Samantha and Josh Baker and Ben King.
Sadie lived in Spencer from 1939 until moving to Autumn Care in 2006.
Numerous family and friends were invited to attend this celebration which will include a covered-dish meal following the worship service.

Earnhardt – Marshall

Perry and Jill Earnhardt of Salisbury are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Jenna Elyse Earnhardt, to Andrew Michael Marshall, both of Charleston, S.C.
The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Dale and Betty Boger of Salisbury, the late Clyde ěJuneî Earnhardt and the late Dorothy ěDotî Hammill Earnhardt Hagler of Gold Hill. Educated at East Rowan High School, Jenna graduated from Higher Ground Academy in 2006. She is in the United States Air Force in Charleston serving as a C-17 crew chief.
The future groom is the son of Dr. Mickey Marshall of Tampa, Fla., and Michael and Brenda Marshall of Mahomet, Ill., and the grandson of Bill and Nancy Marshall of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Alice Marshall of Zion, Ill. A 2007 graduate of Mahomet Seymore High School, Andrew is also in the United States Air Force, serving as a mechanic for aerospace ground equipment.
The couple will wed June 20 at Providence United Methodist Church in Salisbury.

Goodman – Lordi

ASHEVILLE ó Catherine Park Goodman and Joseph Clinton Lordi were united in marriage Nov. 28, 2008, at Central United Methodist Church. The 6 p.m. ceremony was conducted by Dr Robert M. Blackburn. An intimate dinner celebration was held at Biltmore Forest Country Club.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Vance Goodman of Asheville. She is the granddaughter of Peggy Watts Blackwell and the late Robert Madison Blackwell of Anderson, S.C., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Enoch Alvin Goodman of Salisbury. She is the step-granddaughter of Lois Busby Goodman of Salisbury. The bride is a 2003 graduate of Wake Forest University and an elementary school teacher in Moorhead, Miss.
The groom is the son of Lawrence Jeffrey and Lorraine Clinton Lordi of Londonderry, N.H. He is the grandson of Doris Ann Clinton and the late Dr. Thomas Haymond of Fairmont, W.Va., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Joseph Lordi of Rockland, Mass. The groom is a 2003 graduate of Notre Dame University and Principal of Shelby Middle School in Shelby, Miss.
The couple met in the Mississippi Delta as teachers with Teach for America and now reside in Ruleville, Miss.

Congratulations Breaja Houston

Breaja Houston has been chosen as a February Star Student for her class at Granite Quarry Elementary School. She was chosen based on the character trait kindness, which includes being considerate, courteous, helpful and understanding of others. Breajaís class emphasizes treating others as you would like to be treated.
Breaja was presented with a certificate, ribbon, Star Student pencil and had refreshments in the cafeteria with other Star Students.
Breaja is the daughter of Regina Houston of Salisbury.
