Area Sports Briefs: Croner completes career

Guilford’s Tracey Croner (East Rowan) ended her basketball career with 14 points in a 70-54 loss to Virginia Wesleyan in the ODAC tournament. Croner scored 1,021 points to rank 14th at Guilford.
– Pfeiffer basketball
Pfeiffer’s men’s basketball team lost to Anderson 105-98 on Thursday. The fourth-seeded Falcons (16-11, 13-7) will play No. 5 seed Anderson at home Monday in the Conference Carolinas tournament.
* Pfeiffer’s women’s basketball team (8-19, 8-14) is seeded ninth and plays at No. 8 Coker Sunday.

West Rowan’s boys basketball team plays at High Point Andrews tonight at 7 p.m. in a sectional final to determine one of the four teams in the 3A Western Regional.
Take I-85 North to Exit 111. Take 311 North/N. Main St. toward downtown. After 3.6 miles, turn right on College. After 3.0 miles, turn right on East Lexington. After 0.3 miles, school should be visible at 1920 McGuinn Drive.

Salisbury’s boys basketball team plays at East Lincoln tonight at 7 p.m. in a sectional final to determine one of the four teams in the 2A Western Regional.
From Salisbury, take I-85 South for 21 miles to Exit 55.
Go right off the exit and follow N.C. Highway 73 for 23 miles to the school’s location in Denver.

– GARS outing
Thirty-one GARS members played at Warrior this week.
Low ‘A’ Flight player with a net of 63.30 was Bill Hathcock. Low ‘B’ player with a net of 66.16 was David Schenk. Low ‘C’ player with a net of 64.21 was Bert Bollinger.
Low ‘D’ player was Harold Hattaway with a net of 66.78.
– 7th-grade basketball
Erwin’s girls stayed undefeated with a 39-37 victory against Knox on Thursday.
Second-place Knox led by as many as 12 points in the first half.
Lauren Thomas and Katie Kepley had double-doubles for Erwin (9-0, 8-0). Thomas had 19 points, 11 rebounds and four steals. Her two free throws with 40 seconds to play broke a 37-all tie. Kepley had 12 points and 10 boards. Karleigh Wike grabbed 10 rebounds, and Josie McNeely had seven boards.
Brielle Blaire led Knox (6-2) with 15 points. Cheyenne Gloster scored 10 points. Monifa Angle added eight points.
* Knox’s boys rolled over Erwin 45-26 behind Jaquez Finger’s 16 points. John Canipe scored 11 points. Nick Brown added six.
Erwin (1-8, 1-7) was paced by Donte Means’ nine points. Dalton Nelson had nine rebounds. Thomas Phillips and Doc Corpening had seven rebounds apiece, and Corpening blocked four shots.

The Jesse Carson High School Booster Club will hold its monthly meeting on Monday at 6 p.m. in the media center. All members are invited to attend.
– Bank of NC tourney
Davidson Country Day’s boys beat St. John’s of Winston-Salem 49-32 in the first round of the Bank of N.C. Championships.
Kenrick Jobe led the Diamondbacks (17-14) with 13 points. Coleman Hayes scored 10 points, while Conor Honeycutt and Celexus Long had nine apiece.
Games continue tonight.
